Breaking & Schooling

John Leigh has an incredible affinity with horses. He has competed at top level and has produced many youngsters which have gone on to compete at International level. Johns heart has never been in competing though, that was only ever an extension to his love of horses and working with them.

For the last 20 or so years, John has concentrated on breaking youngsters. He is often compared with Pat Parelli and Monty Roberts but John doesnt have the personality or time to make DVDs or write books, he would rather stay at home and quietly work a young horse. He doesnt shout his abilities from the rooftops but the results are there to be seen by anyone who has sent a horse to him. There are no secrets to his methods, a gentle understanding and the ability to read a horse are his working tools.

Johns clients include many well known professionals who trust him to do a proper job in his quiet, persistent way. If they entrust their horses to him, just think what can be done for your youngster.

John has succeeded with difficult horses where others have failed. Of course, no horse should be started by anyone other than a true professional, especially a nervous or spirited horse because, as we all know, a problem in the beginning can be detrimental to the horses future.

John charges a flat rate of £200 per week. Every horse differs according to its temperament and whilst John doesnt try to break a colt in 4 hours, you can be assured your horse will be worked properly every day and results are usually seen after about 4 days. The majority of horses are ready to go home within 3 weeks. Before any horse leaves the premises, John demonstrates what the horse can do, gives the owner a brief lesson and advises on how the education should progress once it has returned home.

John can be contacted on 07816 125919 but we respectfully request that you keep your enquiries brief and whenever possible try to limit calling times to 7 - 7.30 am or after it has gone dark in the evenings.
